Iryna Bakhmutova

📍Birmingham, Hereford, UK

I’m originally from Donetsk, Ukraine, and ever since I was 8, I knew I wanted to become a tattoo artist. My parents, however, had other ideas — so I ended up as a mechanical engineer working for Volkswagen (yes, I can probably fix your car too). After the war, life turned into a 7-year adventure of “creative survival,” until a friend lent me money and told me to finally give tattooing a shot. The first three years were… let’s say, character-building (no mentor, just me and a lot of trial and error). But here we are — the dream is alive, the ink is flowing, and my childhood self would probably give me a high-five.

My style is botanical fine-line — basically, I make flowers that don’t wilt. I’ve worked in 21 countries (passport is well-used), and my machines have hummed at tattoo festivals across Belgium, Italy, Germany, France, and Poland. My career kicked off in Krasnodar, then tattooed its way across Europe until I landed in the UK. Now I’m based in 2 cities Birmingham, working out of Dark Horse Collective and Hereford at Skinzophrenic . I love detail, precision, and tattoos that whisper instead of shout. I’m still on the road, chasing inspiration and meeting incredible people.
