Hi, I’m Ella, and I run Ink Lux Studio in Nottingham, UK. I first tried tattooing around 2007, but at the time I put it aside to focus on my studies. I completed a Fine Art degree, began a Master’s in Portugal, and then moved to London and graduated from UCL with a Postgraduate qualification in Education before starting my teaching career. I spent years as a secondary school art teacher, sharing my love of art with students. It wasn’t until I had my daughter that I decided to return to tattooing. Now I run my studio full-time, balancing family life with my art and finding inspiration between studio days, sketchbooks, and everyday chaos.

I specialise in wildlife and animal portraits, aiming to capture their character, movement, and presence in every tattoo. At Ink Lux Studio, I work with clients across Nottingham and beyond to create custom black-and-grey pieces. My tattoo style is shaped by my art background — years of creating realistic portraits and paintings influence how I approach shading, detail, and form. I try to bring the same subtlety, softness, and attention to expression from my drawings into every tattoo, giving each animal a sense of personality and depth. Alongside my studio work, I’ll also be attending Dino Tattoo Show in Rotherham in July this year.
