Mattia Provezza

📍Montichiari (Bs) Italy

Hi everyone, I’m Mattia Provezza. I was born in 1990 in Italy.

I have been drawing since I was a child, and around 18 years old I decided to transform my drawing style into something tattooable. From that moment, I started looking for a master or someone who could teach me how to tattoo.

I started tattooing in 2012 after earning my degree in Industrial Design.

I had an “old school” apprenticeship, which allowed me to start my career in the best way, I guess — knowing the basics, but especially learning to respect the job and its history.

I take inspiration from everything I love, from dark fantasy to metal music, nature details, anime, and many other things — sometimes even small details that no one notices.

I started by working in almost every style to understand machines, needles, etc.

Then I began to add my personal taste to my tattoos, and when my technique was good enough, I started to include elements from my background: fantasy creatures, movie references, music, games — everything that catches my attention. I try to translate all of this into a very personal kind of blackwork. I draw as I tattoo and vice versa, using just black ink and almost exclusively liner needles, without losing elegance. I especially love doing freehand work — snakes, flowers, and skulls — to dress the body in the best possible way. Over the years, I have taken part in many conventions and won some awards. I also create illustrations, graphics, and hand-painted pottery — everything that fits my style.
