Emotional Realism & Timeless Contrast
Interview
How did you first get into tattooing, and what motivated you to pursue it professionally?
My fascination with tattooing began in childhood, long before I ever touched a tattoo machine. I was drawn to the idea of combining art with meaning — images that stay with a person for life. Six years ago, I began tattooing professionally, and that moment changed everything. What started as curiosity quickly became a calling. I realized tattooing was my way to express emotion, connect deeply with people, and create lasting, meaningful art.
With six years of experience, what moments or challenges have contributed most to your growth?
The projects that shaped me most were the challenging ones. Working with deeply personal stories, correcting older tattoos, and meeting high expectations pushed me to grow both technically and emotionally. Each complex piece forced me to expand my understanding of anatomy, composition, and visual perception.
You especially enjoy black & grey and color realism — what draws you to these styles?
Black-and-grey work captivates me through its strength, contrast, and emotional depth. It allows powerful expression with minimal elements. Color realism, on the other hand, enables me to bring life, texture, and vivid emotion into an image. In both styles, honesty and emotional impact are central to my work.
How would you describe your artistic identity today?
I see my identity as a balance between versatility and clarity. While I enjoy working across different styles, I am conscious of which visual languages truly resonate with me. For me, recognizability doesn’t come from limiting myself to one style, but from the atmosphere, intention, and emotional presence within each piece.
Can you describe your creative process from concept to final execution?
Every project begins with conversation. I focus on understanding not only the visual idea but also the emotional meaning behind it. After gathering references and studying the body’s form, I develop the sketch. I leave space for intuition, allowing the design to evolve naturally. The final execution becomes a dialogue between preparation and the living moment of tattooing.
How do you adapt different styles to the body’s natural flow and to each client’s idea?
I approach every design with anatomy in mind. The body is not a flat surface, and a tattoo should move naturally with it. I adapt each composition to muscles, curves, and motion to ensure harmony from every angle. At the same time, I carefully respect the client’s vision and guide the design toward the strongest possible outcome.
What technical aspects are most important for strong contrast, realism, and longevity?
Clean execution, correct depth, and a deep understanding of contrast are fundamental. I pay close attention to light and shadow to achieve realism while ensuring the tattoo ages well. High-quality materials and respect for how skin changes over time are essential to creating lasting results.
How do you build communication and trust with clients?
Trust is built through honest communication and mutual respect. I explain my artistic decisions openly while remaining receptive to the client’s ideas. When people feel heard and understood, collaboration becomes natural and comfortable.
How do you see the evolution of realism tattooing today?
Realistic tattooing has reached a very high technical level. With that evolution comes responsibility. Realism today is not about copying a photograph but about translating it thoughtfully onto skin, considering movement, time, and individuality. I believe the future lies in meaningful realism rather than visual overload.
What are your artistic goals for the coming years?
I aim to further refine my personal style and focus on larger, more conceptual projects. I am interested in creating cohesive bodies of work connected by shared ideas and emotional depth. My goal is to produce tattoos that remain visually powerful and personally meaningful throughout a lifetime.
